16 FEBRUARY 2023 ELLEN MADDEN | JEWELLERY WRITER

This Winter has brought about a lot of unexpected surprises – snow in early December and seasonal colours that go far beyond the typical winter darks. The jewellery and gemstones are no different.

Every season, there are new colours to consider thanks to runways around the world, jewellery designers, creative directors, and those that forecast the trends. The Pantone Color Institute produce a Fashion Colour Trend Report to guide all fashion followers on which colours we should be wearing. Season by season, colour by colour. We’ve taken our inspiration from its Autumn/Winter 2022/2023 forecast, along with having our diamond eye in the world of jewellery.

Our job? To show you which colours you should be sporting this winter. From lavender to caramel, sky blue to rosewood red, and warm gold to sleek silver.

But we want to make sure the jewellery you choose makes you glow. That’s where our guide comes in. If you’re not sure of your skin's undertones or want to discover your colours, jump back to our Autumn colour palette blog. It’s a four-step guide on undertones and will only take you five mins.

Now that you’ve determined if you're warm-toned, cool-toned, or neutral, scroll on for the winter jewellery that’ll flatter you.

WINTER JEWELLERY FOR WARM-TONED SKIN

These are our perfect picks for warm-toned skin this Winter.

Skin that has warm undertones will often have golden, peach and yellow tints. This means that bright colours and earthy hues work wonderfully.

This winter we’re envisioning rich red garnets against sunshine yellow gold. This 18ct gold vermeil ring has got us covered. It’s chunky, textured, and said to be a symbol of love and friendship.

Radley's rosewood red watch is the dressy-all-rounder that’ll take you from the office to after-work drinks, weekday to weekend, and will be the star of the show on every occasion.

For something so warm (and delicious) we can’t stray far from Le Vian and their 14ct chocolate diamond ring featuring delicious strawberry gold. Its intricate twist design adds just the right amount of detail.

For jewellery that flatters your warm undertones, our top tip is to go for yellow gold jewellery. You’ll thank us later.

WINTER JEWELLERY FOR COOL-TONED SKIN

If you’ve got blueish and pink hues under your skin it means your cool toned. And for those with cool-toned skin? Make purples, blues, and shades of pink your new best friend/best friends.

This season the complimentary cool-toned colours we’re crushing on are sky blue, sleek silver, and shiny black. Bonus points for mixing them all.

Our top picks? These topaz stud earrings. Made from 9ct white gold, the silver-tone and the icy blue makes for a stark and striking contrast.

For something a little more subtle, we love Calvin Klein's silver toned bangle. It’s glamorous without being too OTT but adds just the right amount of allure to your everyday attire.

For those who like a lot of chunk, Ania Haie's sterling silver huggies will tick all of your earring boxes. They’re made from 14ct sterling silver, these hoops are utterly luxe (and bang on trend).

If you’re someone with cool undertones, side with silver. It’ll flatter your complexion and layering up your silver is one of the hottest jewellery trends at the moment. It’s a win-win.

WINTER JEWELLERY FOR NEUTRAL-TONED SKIN

For those with neutral undertones: the tones under your skin are likely similar to your skin's colour.

This means you can really go wild with a mix and match of all colours. The gems, jewels and (mix of) metals for you?

PDPaola. It’s known for its balanced mixture of coloured gemstone jewellery. It’s perfect for those who lean towards the neutral side of things. We are crushing on our gold plated pendant this Winter. To steal the show, stack it with other mixed metals. We’re thinking: chunky chains in both yellow gold and white gold.

Another favourite is our tiger eye signet ring. A striking silver with an earthy-toned tiger eye in the centre. Oh, and it nails the neutral theme.

To take the mixed metal brief out of your hands – go for gold (and silver) with our together double hoop gold earrings.
